Introduction

The village was founded as a primary settlement during the reign of Maria Theresia. The following text is taken from the historical introduction of the family book Sackelhausen: "The first German colonists came in the year 1765. At first, there were only a few families; the greater influx did not come until 1766 and only individual families until 1770. A second, substancial influx occured between 1784 and 1787.

The origins of these people , as seen in relation to the current group worldwide bearing Sackelhausener surnames can be summarized as follows: [As of 1993: This number of persons bearing Sackelhausener surnames is derived from the total number of individuals living in 1993, who left Sackelhausen between 1940 and 1993 and those who still lived in Sackelhausen in 1993. The sum comes to 2,638. For two-thirds of this number (i.e. 1,742); the origins are known. The number 1,742 is derived from a total of 87 contemporary Sackelhausen family surnames.]

Families

In Sackelhausen we find very early and very late representatives of the Dupont families. They are parts of different branches of the clan.

Peter Dippong Peter is belonging to the Jean Tree. He and his wife Katharina Schlotter married in Johannisfeld. Their daughter Kristina was born on 08. Sep 1956 in Johannisfeld. Kristina married Edgar Olajos in 1977 in Sackelhausen. Their son Karl-Heinz Olajos was born in Munich in 1980.

Adam Tüpon According to PITZER in HUMMEL/FUHRY, the settlers from Luxembourg had been the very first Germans in Sackelhausen. So we can assume that Adam and his wife Anna were included in this group. Adam is perhaps identical with Adam Dupont from Otzenhausen, registered in Vienna in 1766. But we have a problem with the place of origin Bbg/Luxemburg (Bettemburg). The distance between Otzenhausen and Bettemburg is about 53 km, so we need further research. However, we have settlers from Otzenhausen in Sackelhausen.

Christina Dipong HUMMEL/FUHRY have a record 8824 Christina Dipong oo Georg Rosier. Their daughter was born in St. Hubert. But KÜHN/AMANN have Christina Dipry from Lorraine instead of Dipong. So the record of Sackelhausen seems to be an error.
